Dream Come True

I HATE shopping. I always have. I would love to walk into a store with TONS of manikins dressed in perfectly accessorized outfits. Then, I could just point to the ones I like, be measured and walk out with my outfits. I wouldn’t need to think about how to pair things up. Brilliant!

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t dress like Betty Suarez on Ugly Betty…yet. But I’m certainly not a fashionista. For YEARS I have wanted a personal shopper. I don’t like to shop.

Recently my dream came true. G took good notes and has treated me to a session with the experts. They’ll come in for a wardrobe assessment next weekend. They’ll look through my closet and make suggestions on how I can put things together to make new outfits. They’ll also help me to make a shopping list of staple items that would help round out my wardrobe and make recommendations on stores that cut appropriately for my shape and size (apparently the cuts vary widely by store).

Then, the following Saturday they’ll come back again and go out with me to shop for the items on the list. Very excited.

Provided it goes well, I think G may also have a session of his own. We BOTH hate shopping. I can’t wait.

G, you should write a book for guys on how to give gifts. This is a great idea. Kind of reminds me of the scene in Pretty Woman, minus the whole being treated poorly for being a prostitute.

One of our dreams has always been that our house would burn down and we’d get a big insurance payment and get to start all over. A new wardrobe would no doubt be a welcome start. Of course, I would just go to Old Navy and the Dockers online store and be done with it 8-)

Would these experts be Lisa Butcher and Mica Paris or Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine?

Personally I would like Trinny and Susan as long as they don’t take my panties off on national TV (like they did on one show). But over on this side of the pond it would be Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. Since my personal budget isn’t quite that large (and I’d rather spend the money on the clothes than the people), I just watch the TV shows and do my own shopping. Seems to work pretty well so far. And yes, shopping is hard work but it is a price you have to pay if you want to stay in style.

Perhaps worth mentioning that we don’t have a tv? I’ll have to Google it.

People more important than the clothes for me…I don’t want to think about it and keep up on the trends. It’s not my bag. The whole London layering thing and mismatched colours and patterns have me confused. :)

Ha! I am so not in to fashion. I didn’t know who any of those people were. Still don’t! I think it is safe to say that we won’t be hiring any of them.
